Do you remember the
Donkey Derby last year? What a great turn out. We hope by now that
you are well aware that the 2008 Donkey Derby will shortly be upon
us.

The 2008 Programme Cover |
Have you have noticed the
lovely posters which have been created by some of the children &
parents of the three schools around the village? The winning entry
of our competition has been drawn by Emma Pallett and we are proud
for it to appear on the cover of the programme. Our thanks goes to
Keith Parker who has had the difficult job of judging the
competition. The finalists' entries can be seen
here.
We received lots of entries
all of which will be displayed on the day. Take a moment to have a
look at what wonderful artists we have in the making. |
|
We have once again been very
fortunate to receive considerable support from our advertisers
together with
Keith Ashton who have
promoted the event with their board campaign. Thanks also go to our
printers in helping produce this programme which raises vital funds
prior to the event.
Six village charitable organisations
benefit from the proceeds of the day. Each has written a paragraph
detailing where last year’s money was spent and their plans for this
year.== |

Who knocked on your door? A
scout, a member of the football team, an Infant or Junior school
child? Whoever it was they are all volunteers trying to raise money
for their
organization and others, so
thank you to them and to you for supporting them all.

I would personally like to
thank all those who have joined the committee this year. Each and
every one has worked hard prior to the day to make the event a
success. Please support your representative
by
offering to help on the day. We struggle every year to
find enough people to help on stalls so even 1/2 an hour is a great
help and think how you are helping your village.

The Parish Council have been
kind enough to offer the use of their field for the event. Their
help is much appreciated. Thank you also goes to ‘The Link’ for
placing our adverts each month. |

Our Official photographer Bill Parkinson will be snapping away again
this year.
Click here to view last year’s photos
and those from 2006. The 2008 photos will be available shortly after the
event.
At present we have spaces for
riders in the
Donkey races, so if you would like to
ride and haven’t booked a steed, contact Sue on 823706 or
click
here. |
